(An initiative of NAHN Houston)
We made such an impact providing essential medical care, education, and resources to Colombia's underserved population that we are returning for our 2025 Nursing Medical Mission Trip! What an incredible mark you left on these communities!
We are a non-profit organization consisting of Nurses and volunteers designated to provide support and care to communities in need.
We provide mentoring to nurses and nursing students while caring for the physical and emotional health to at risk elders and their families in rural areas in the US and abroad.
We collaborate with other national and international organizations to support the health of all people across the life span.
Nurses on the Move INC (a NAHN Houston Chapter initiative) is thankful for its medical mission donors and sponsors throughout the years. This year we visited Colombia and are so grateful to you for helping us make it happen! I hope you continue to support our mission and vision in aiding our Hispanic community. We were in need of monetary support and item donations for our trip...you heard us and delivered! THANK YOU!!!
The mission trip was a success, and we would like to draw attention to special moments of this trip:

We are overjoyed to share that, as a result of our last nursing medical mission to Barranquilla, Colombia in 2024, we have officially sponsored 27 children!
Thanks to the generosity and support of our incredible community, these children started school just two weeks ago—something that would not have been possible without this sponsorship. Last year we were able to provide Colombian residence access to healthcare and essential resources, but also access to Education!
We are SO excited to announce that we will once again be ON THE MOVE to Baranquilla, Colombia! The official dates for Colombia are September 21, 2025 - September 28, 2025. We will be putting into action our promise to promote the improvement of the health of our Hispanic community INTERNATIONALLY! Stay tuned for updates on our facebook!

Let me tell you a little bit about my mother and overall, a wonderful woman, Dona Gloria Velez Alvarez. First off, she was a nurse at the public hospital in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, where she was known in the community and throughout the neighborhood. It seemed like every afternoon someone would come to the house to get an injection and Mom always kept the syringes boiling to the point that at times they couldn’t even be touched. When someone was going to have a baby in the neighborhood, they would come looking for Gloria and if someone had an infection, cut, or needed bandages changed, Mom was the go-to person for the neighborhood.
There would be times where I had to go to an appointment for either the doctor or the dentist and mom would take me to work with her at the hospital. When the appointment was over the nurse, or the assistant would take me back to where mom was working for that day and the other nurses would entertain me by letting me call patients. I think this is where my love for nursing started.
When we started the medical missions, mom would always give me donations of shampoo, hand sanitizer, and other things, and couldn’t wait for me to get back, so that I could tell her all the towns we went to help those in need. Even though she had already seen it all on Facebook.
This is the legacy that my mother left me, and I will continue to follow it for as long as I can.
Our hard-working, good-natured, humble mother taught us to always give without receiving anything in return, because she knew God will take care of the rest.
Even until the end of her life she provided support to our 2023 mission.
